Plant Care

  • Light - Place the plant in a bright room with bright, indirect light, such as an east-facing window. Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves and make them dull.
  • Watering - Water the plant every 1-2 weeks, or when the soil is almost completely dry. Water more often in spring or summer when the plant is getting more light. Aerate the soil before watering to help it breathe and release moisture. Watering too often can cause the leaves to turn yellow.
  • Humidity - The rubber plant can tolerate any level of humidity, including normal room humidity.
  • Temperature - Aim for a temperature of 65°F to 85°F (18°C-30°C) for your rubber plant, and not let it go below 60°F (15°C).
  • Fertilizing - Fertilize your rubber plant every 4-6 weeks during growing season.
  • Cleaning - Dust the broad leaves with a damp rag occasionally.
  • Toxicity - The rubber plant is considered toxic due to its milky sap, so it's not a pet-friendly houseplant.

Plant Benefits

  • Air purification: Rubber plants produce oxygen and can remove up to 60% of air toxins, including mold spores and bacteria. They can also filter out common indoor pollutants like formaldehyde, benzene, and carbon monoxide.
  • Low maintenance: Rubber plants are easy to grow and require low maintenance.
  • Appearance: Rubber plants have dark, leathery leaves and can be a striking statement piece.
  • Anti-inflammatory properties: Rubber plants have anti-inflammatory properties.
