The outside ring represents fire, the middle ring represents earth and the inner most ring represents water.  The gestures of the dance represent Shiva's five activities; creation (symbolized by the drum), protection (by the fear not hand gesture), destruction (by the fire), embodiment (by the foot planted on the dwarf), and release (by the foot held up). This Statue is made in a small town called Aligarh in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. It is made of solid Brass and sand casted.  After the statue is removed from the mold, they do the final finishing of color and engraving.
