Brass Gothic Candlestick Altar Lamps - Antique My photos are part of my description - please view them all and read the entire description prior to purchase. Props are not included. This listing is for a set of two brass Gothic candlestick lamps. I have no way of verifying the exact age of these brass lamps but my research suggests that they are probably from the 18th or 19th century. These candlesticks are not magnetic and they scratch test as bright brass. They have seams (see photos #8 & 9) so they were molded in two parts and then soldered together at the seams - another sign of their age. As can be seen in photo #1, these are a matched right and left candlestick pair. These 'lamps' did not start out as lights - they would have been candlestick holders in the beginning. They would have held candles and were probably displayed within the sanctuary and/or altar. At some point in their lives they have been converted to electric lamps. The electrical conversion is in very good condition and the wiring seems to be from the 60's, each wire is 6 foot long. They are functioning three way lamps. These could, of course, be restored to candlestick holders with little effort. Each lamp is heavy cast brass in Victorian Church design with crocketted spires, open lancet windows and all the traditional Gothic motifs. These are solid brass, not plated, and each lamp weighs 4 lbs 11 oz EACH. The measurement of a height of 30" is to the top of the lampshade bracket. It is 23" to the top of the light bulb socket and 20" to the top of the brass candlestick, itself. There do not seem to be any maker's marks (and I was unable to find any representative of these Antique brass candlesticks that had any) but there is a number, 12, hand etched into the hot brass on both candlesticks. These are truly stunning to behold. There is so much fine detail here ranging from the molded Gothic architecture to the fine embossing on all six sides of the column sections.
